- Introduction -
Personally, I take tens of application screenshots every week. Sometimes, a hundred or more... It come with the territory because of the nature of my job as a software developer. I often wish that I could save window properties (position & size) and then restore them whenever necessary. I realize that I shouldnt have relocated or resized its window AFTER I QUIT AN APPLICATION. Dont you ever wish that you could place a web browser window at a certain position with a certain size? That would be quite difficult for a sandboxed application to achieve since the system blocks it from controlling other applications. And thats what Grabbo is designed to achieve.
Grabbo lets you save window attributes (owner, position, size) so that you can apply them to the topmost window owned by the same application. Lets suppose that you save a set of TextEdit window properties. And TextEdit is currently running with five separate documents. Then Grabbo can set the position and the size of the topmost document window owned by TextEdit according to a set of saved properties you select.
* IMPORTANT: NOT ALL APPLICATIONS ARE SCRIPTABLE. IF NOT, THEY CANNOT RECEIVE A COMMAND. *
- Features -
1. Save window properties. Apply saved window properties to the topmost window owned by the same application.
2. Highlight the position and the size of a window you select with a color frame.
3. Save a screenshot of a window you select to your disk with or without a shadow around it. Delay the export execution by 5 or 10 seconds.
4. Edit saved window attributes.
5. Duplicate saved window attributes.
6. The application support the fullScreen mode.
7. The application supports the retina screen. (tested with 2014 2.6 GHz 13" MacBook Pro)
8. Languages: English and Japanese only.
9. Application file size: 24.8 MB.
10.The application comes with a built-in 15-page user guide. Choose Show Quick Tour under Grabbo whenever you need to see it.
- System requirements -
1. 10.8 (tested with 10.8.5), 10.9 (tested with 10.9.5), 10.10 (tested with 10.10.2)
2. 64-bit system
- Limitations -
1. In order to apply saved window properties to the topmost window owned by the same application, the application requires that the user download a file from software developers web site. This file must be manually installed in the Application Scripts folder that the application can access. See Pages 5 & 6 of Quick Tour for more information.
2. A window screenshot will be saved to the disk with resolutions of 72 dpi x 72 dpi for non-retina screen models (144 dpi x 144 dpi for retina screen models with JPEG, PNG, TIFF).
3. The application does not keep track of windowless applications, windows that are minimized.
4. Not all applications allow this application to set the bounds of the topmost window. It’s not Grabbo that makes the decision as to whether or not an application is scriptable. In order to see if an application is ready to receive a command from this application, open AppleScript Editor and choose Open Dictionary under File to see if that application is selectable. If not, that application is not scriptable.
